Trip Length: Three months (ish!)

Matt and I could not be at further ends of the spectrum when it comes to how we’re packing. Matt has very much embraced the minimalistic, digital nomad style of travel – whilst I may have just enough clothes to wear something different every day for the whole trip. This is the biggest trip either of us have ever been on, so who knows who’s packing style will prove to be more successful! We’ll let you know.

Osprey Sojourn 80L

The main reason I chose this back pack was because it has both wheels and straps. I couldn’t find many backpacks that offered this and I think I’ll really appreciate the functionality when we’re travelling through all sorts of different terrain. It was pretty pricey at $550 NZD but Osprey is a reliable and respected brand so I’m expecting this bag to last me a life time! I went for the 80 litre as we’re planning to travel for quite a long time. 

Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L

Matt chose this bag for a few reasons, he wanted something quite small that would be able to fit his camera gear, drone etc.. while still having enough space and pockets for clothing and a laptop. 45L is not a lot of space so he has really downsized the amount of things he owns for this trip. The Peak Design Travel Backpack has many accessories that fit into the bag, including a camera cube, storage cubes for clothing, and tech pouches for keeping cables, chargers and batteries organised. It also features hidden pockets which is great for hiding AirTags and important documents like passports.
